TDT, UNO qualifications - what do you have to do to get them?
ERGON Personnel Training Center organizes TDT training for filling and emptying tanks. This is an important skill for those who transport or spill various substances - especially hazardous substances - using tanks. To do this, you must have it on entitlements. If we do not have them, we will face severe penalties in the event of an inspection. So it's not worth risking and taking part in the training!
Who should be trained?
TDT course (also known as the UNO course) is intended for anyone interested. In particular, it should be attended by those who are professional drivers who transport goods in tanks. Such drivers already have the appropriate authorization to transport dangerous products, i.e. in the field of ADR. However, the transport itself may be insufficient in special cases, so it is worth acquiring additional licenses for self-filling tankers. The training is also intended for employees serving bottlers of dangerous goods. These types of devices are usually placed in companies that produce such goods.
Dangerous goods - what are they?
The ERGON Personnel Training Center will provide you with training for various hazardous products. These are, for example, gases or flammable liquids - these are respectively the second and third classes. The fourth class includes materials that are flammable in a solid state, as well as self-reactive, pyrophoric and those which, in contact with water, create flammable gases. Oxidizing materials and organic peroxides are in turn the fifth class of hazardous materials. We also train in handling poisonous and infectious materials - class 6 and corrosive materials belonging to the eighth class. The last in the classification are various non-hazardous goods, i.e. flour, oils, petrygo, asphalt, bituminous masses, but they are filled under pressure.
First of all, the person who is to participate in the course must be at least 18 years old. Such a person must also know Polish - this is an important criterion for foreigners, because the TDT exam is not translated into other languages. If the knowledge of Polish is not at the appropriate level, a situation in which an interpreter is provided is acceptable. However, it is more important that the participant has at least a professional education. In this case, the matter may also be settled with a certificate of being a qualified worker. The last criterion is the completion of the application for an examination. This document, together with the certificate of education (or being a skilled worker) should be submitted at the beginning of the training.
The range of topics
TDT training covers both theoretical and practical issues. These include, among others:
|OHS and fire protection||Familiarization with the provisions on health and safety at work and fire regulations|
|Dangerous materials||Acquiring knowledge about hazardous materials, and above all about their chemical and physical properties|
|Tank markings||Instructing participants to describe and read the markings on tanks intended for transport|
|Construction and supervision||Acquainting with the construction of tanks and the course of technical supervision over all equipment|
|UNO support||Practical learning how to use filling nozzles as well as filling and emptying tanks|
Regardless of the class of materials to which we are certified, the issues are the same. The only difference is the amount of material to be mastered during the course.
Course of training and examination
After meeting the formal requirements, you can start training. Initially, theoretical topics are discussed. At a later stage, we focus on practical aspects that are key to the entire learning process. When the entire course is completed, an exam is waiting for you. Transport Technical Supervision has its own qualification committee and this is what the training participant has to face. A positive result of the exam ensures obtaining a certificate of qualifications to operate UNO devices. It is worth adding that the rights to the equipment are valid for life. Therefore, they do not need to be renewed from time to time, as is the case with other devices. You should also know that it is possible to exercise certificates for several classes of hazardous materials. This is a good solution for those who have to handle various goods in their work.
Our Center will train you in the operation of devices belonging to TDT and UNO. Our staff of highly qualified specialists and the materials we have ensure proper preparation for the exam and its passing. We organize training in our branches, but if you want to conduct them in your workplace, it is possible. We will get to any place in Poland! The ERGON Personnel Training Center encourages you to take part in the course! If you have any questions, please contact us by phone or via the contact form available on our website.
