- a pleasant atmosphere.
Floating cranes - key information
Floating cranes, or floating cranes, are subject to technical supervision. They are designed for use at sea, in ports or shipyards. They are used to transport and move heavy loads and goods. They have a tall arm that is attached to a steel floating platform. Some floating cranes are self-propelled, while there are also some that need a tugboat to move. There are two types of floating cranes:
- crane with fixed arm - is simple to operate. It moves only forwards and backwards and by lowering and raising the slings. Its base is attached to the platform, so the operator has to move the whole platform to move the load to the other side;
- crane with slewing arm - can rotate around its own axis and has a 'load deck', which is primarily used for stacking and depositing loads. This type of crane is more difficult to operate, yet very functional and practical.
We train to be a maintainer of both types of floating cranes so that trainees are able to effectively take care of both the swivel arm and fixed arm crane in the future.
