Essential machinery on site
What are the essential machines on site?
Before we start building on a designated site, it is worth looking at the machinery we are sure to need for this type of activity.
The construction equipment that has to be present on site is primarily that which prepares the ground for the construction work. We are talking about bulldozers, excavators, loaders, dumpers and other equipment for earthworks, including concrete mixers. No road, building or other construction project can start without them!
However, it is important to bear in mind that not all the machines listed will be used. The terrain on which the work will take place defines which of them are needed at any given time, place and time.
In addition to the equipment mentioned above, a generator, compactor and even a demolition hammer are also useful on the construction site.
The same applies to interchangeable attachments for certain machines. Some of them are an indispensable and compulsory item that will help us during the performance of contracted construction activities.
What is the equipment used for on site?
It all depends on what the machine or equipment has been developed for. Everything in such a place must be used in accordance with their intended purpose. Therefore, in order for an employee to use such a piece of equipment, special operator's permits and sometimes even a driving licence are needed. Why? Because some machines require moving from one point to another on public roads. Consequently, it becomes joining the traffic and the driver of the machine is subject to the same rights as car drivers.
For example:
- Thanks to bulldozers, land can be easily cleared and prepared for construction, but it is with their help that material can be reloaded onto a dump truck. They are also needed for grubbing up bushes,
- Excavators, on the other hand, are useful for digging pits but also, with a change of attachment, for demolishing, for example, the remains of old buildings that are difficult to remove,
- Tippers are indispensable equipment on a construction site if building materials or unnecessary rubbish have to be transported or hauled away from or to the site,
- tractors allow some equipment, but also machinery, to be transported from one point to another,
- concrete mixers - these are used to produce a mixture from which concrete is formed, which can be poured onto a pre-prepared base,
- auxiliary equipment, i.e. all heating units, compressors, jackhammers.
Division of construction machinery
Construction machinery has been categorised by application. This makes it easier to categorise them, as well as to allocate them to the appropriate task to be carried out on a construction site. We distinguish between machines:
- those that have been adapted for earth preparation works for construction,
- necessary for transporting auxiliary equipment as well as those adapted for concrete production,
- suitable for transporting cars and smaller construction machinery,
- necessary to carry out any finishing work,
- such that we can carry out any reinforcement work,
- those with whose help we can carry out roadworks,
- allowing the necessary equipment to be transported quickly from one site to another,
- all kinds of mechanised equipment and machinery for other work,
- as well as those to support in other ways those operating and working on the construction site.
As you can see, machinery on the construction site is used for virtually everything possible. With the appropriate allocation of them, of course. Although some of them are able, with a change of attachment, to perform various tasks other than this basic one.
The construction industry is moving strongly forward with the development of technology. This primarily makes it easier for people to work, but at the same time puts a premium on greater safety. This is why all the machines mentioned above are an indispensable item on a construction site. Perhaps this is the reason why they arouse so much interest and why each of us, at least once, would like to sit behind the controls or steering wheel of such a vehicle.
Questions and answers
What is the equipment used for on site?
It all depends on what the machine or equipment has been developed for. Everything in such a place must be used for their intended purpose.
What are the essential machines on site?
The construction equipment that needs to appear on our work site is first and foremost that which will prepare the site for construction. A generator, compactor and even a demolition hammer are also useful on the construction site. The same applies to interchangeable attachments for certain machines.
How were the machines on site divided up?
Construction machinery has been categorised by application. This makes it easier to categorise them, as well as to allocate them to the appropriate task to be carried out on a construction site.
What is a bulldozer used for on a construction site?
With bulldozers, the land can be easily cleared and prepared for construction, but it is with their help that the material can be reloaded onto the dump truck.
