Our course The operation and maintenance of draglines for moving wagons on tracks is divided into two parts: theoretical (lectures) and practical (workshops). After completing the training, you must take an exam. The licence is issued by the Transport Technical Supervision.  

During the course, the following topics will be covered: 

  • construction of pulling machines to move wagons along the tracks,  
  • technical supervision regulations,  
  • types of broaching machines,  
  • operation of broaching machines,  
  • electrical safeguards,  
  • mechanical safeguards,  
  • health and safety regulations. 

After the theoretical lessons, the trainee performs tasks, under the guidance of our instructors. 

Qualification certificate 

Classes are taught by qualified and experienced teaching staff. After passing the exam, each participant is issued with a certificate of qualification from the TDT in the form of a qualification certificate for wagon pullers on railway tracks. This certificate is valid throughout Poland and is recognised by employers in the European Union. The period of validity of the broaching machine licence is 10 years, while the maintenance licence is valid for five years. All our trainees receive training materials containing a set of TDT examination control questions which may appear on the examination. 

Extension of the certificate deadline 

Remember that in order to extend the validity of your qualification certificate, you must submit an application for renewal no later than 3 months before the expiry date. In this application, you must demonstrate that you have been working as an operator or maintainer of a railcar transporter for at least 3 years within the last 5 years. The application must be submitted on paper or electronically to the TDT body which issued the qualification certificate.

Conditions for taking part in the course 

In order to take part in the training, each participant must be at least 18 years old and have a minimum of primary education. In addition, he or she should have a medical certificate of good health.  

What are track broaching machines?  

Track-mounted broaching machines enable rail wagons to be moved without the assistance of a locomotive. Often, track-mounted broaching machines are combined with handling systems, rail scales or wagon tipplers. Depending on the needs, broaching machines can be used, among other things, to feed and unload wagons that are on a wagon tippler. They are installed on the track axis or between the tracks in such a way as to allow dual-track operation.  

Wagon pullers can be used along the entire track located at the depot, so that the wagons do not interfere with the movement of other vehicles.

Is the authorisation for wagon pulling machines unlimited?

The qualified certificate is valid for 10 years. Of course, it can be renewed.
