Telescopic loaders

Forklift trucks and loaders are widely used in transport work. They make it possible to carry out labour-intensive operations, saving time and also insisting on a high level of safety.

Application of devices
Telescopic handlers are some of the commonly used machines in construction work, including earthmoving, which also work well in other industries, including agriculture, warehousing or material handling work of various kinds both vertically and horizontally. It is forklift specialised, which requires appropriate knowledge certified by the operator to operate.

When operated correctly, a telehandler is capable of handling, among other things, earth or aggregates in earthworks such as land levelling. In agriculture, they can transport straw, manure or wood. The machines are also used for loading and handling pallets, crates and big bags in warehouses and transfer stations.

Some loaders have special human baskets as attachments, so they can then act as lifts. The full range of attachments makes them versatile and frequently used machines, which in turn also creates a high demand for workers with entitlements to handle them.

Construction
The telehandler or variable reach loader, as the term is also used, differs from a normal forklift truck. First of all, it is equipped with a much more powerful engine, which means it can also perform more difficult tasks. Its small size is also a big advantage, as it works well for carrying out work in small areas. The machine has four fixed-wheel drive and is able to work on almost any type of surface, including difficult surfaces such as mud or sand. The loaders have spacious cabs for operator protection and stabilisers.

Devices are commonly divided into two types:

• Rigid, front-end, panoramic - these are loaders that have a rigidly positioned operator's cab. The booms are guided on these models from the right side of the vehicle. The machines can be fitted with side supports. Typically, their lifting capacity ranges from 1.5 to 20 tonnes, with an outreach of up to 20 metres
• rotary, roto - models with a swivel head that also allows the operator's cab to be repositioned with the boom 360 degrees on the machine platform. They generally have a lifting capacity of 3 to 5 tonnes and an outreach of up to 30 metres

Among the most popular manufacturers of telehandlers are companies such as New Holland, Manitou, Case, Dieci, JCB or Merlo. In their offer you can find a full range of modern equipment comprehensively supporting construction and other types of work. The price of the equipment can reach several hundred thousand zlotys, depending on the manufacturer, size and attachments used.

Courses for telehandlers
To work as an equipment operator, you need a licence to do so. These are awarded after undergoing training and passing the UDT exam. Choosing telescopic loader course, the participant is given cross-cutting information on how to operate the equipment safely at the operator's workplace. It teaches, among other things, how to drive the forklift correctly, how to place loads on it, how to comply with technical supervision and health and safety regulations.
